Red Mountain High School Engineering Students Recognized at Assistive Technology Challenge

Students at Red Mountain High School are making a meaningful difference through innovation, creativity, and compassion!

Red Mountain High School Engineering Design and Development students TJ Duff, Liam Goettl, and Ryan Weinstein recently showcased their innovative work at the Makers of Change Assistive Technology Challenge Finals, earning the prestigious Ellie’s Choice Award, personally selected by Ellie and her family.

The competition challenged students to use their engineering skills to develop assistive technology solutions that can improve the lives of others. Through their dedication, teamwork, and creative problem-solving, the Red Mountain team developed a prototype designed with Ellie's needs in mind.

One of the most memorable moments of the evening came when the students asked Ellie's mother if she would like to keep their prototype. Her eyes lit up as she shared how excited she was for Ellie to use it and expressed her enthusiasm about showing it to Ellie's occupational therapist.

The students' outstanding work also caught the attention of local media, earning them a feature on 12 News highlighting their accomplishments.

This achievement represents more than an engineering award. It demonstrates how Red Mountain students are applying classroom knowledge to real-world challenges while making a positive impact on their community.

Congratulations to TJ, Liam, and Ryan for representing Red Mountain High School with excellence and demonstrating the power of engineering to change lives!
